Hardscape Design & Build

Hardscaping

Retaining walls, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, steps, and drainage solutions. Functional stonework that defines and transforms your outdoor living space.

Beyond the Patio

Structure, Function, & Beauty

Hardscaping is the backbone of outdoor design — the retaining walls that create usable space on a slope, the fire pit that becomes your family's favorite gathering spot, the outdoor kitchen that turns your backyard into an entertainment destination.

We design and build hardscape features that are structurally sound, properly drained, and visually stunning. Every wall is engineered for the load it carries. Every drainage solution is sized for the water it handles. Every surface is graded to move water away from your home.

From natural stone to manufactured block, we work with premium materials and install them to manufacturer specifications. The result is hardscaping that performs as well as it looks — season after season, year after year.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do retaining walls need engineering?
Walls over 4 feet in height typically require engineering in New Jersey. We work with licensed engineers when needed and always build to code requirements regardless of wall height.
What materials do you use for hardscaping?
We work with Techo-Bloc, Belgard, and Unilock manufactured stone, as well as natural stone including bluestone, fieldstone, and granite. Material selection depends on your design goals and budget.
Can you add a fire pit to my existing patio?
Yes. We can integrate a fire pit into an existing patio or build a standalone fire pit area with its own seating. Gas and wood-burning options are available.
How do you handle drainage on hardscape projects?
Every project starts with a drainage assessment. We integrate French drains, channel drains, and proper grading into the design to ensure water moves away from structures and doesn't pool on surfaces.
Do you handle permits for hardscaping?
Yes. Retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, and certain other hardscape features require permits in most NJ municipalities. We handle the application process and schedule inspections.
